Candy Cane Chiller (vanilla and mocha)

Here’s a yummy beverage I threw together in my mint-craze this weekend. It just cries out “Christmas!” even though it’s a step away from all of the other hot drinks that are enjoyed at this time of year. You can make this in either a vanilla flavour, or a mocha flavour. For the mocha, I found this cappuccino flavoured frozen yogurt that has chocolate flecks in it…Yummy! The picture I included is of the vanilla recipe. Enjoy! 🙂

Nikki’s Candy Cane Chiller (mocha and vanilla)

  • 1/4 cup vanilla no sugar added frozen yogurt (or for the mocha variation: you can either use cappuccino frozen yogurt, or add in 1-2 tsp of instant espresso powder.)
  • 1/4 cup skim milk
  • 2 tsp peppermint syrup (you can get this at most coffee shops. I purchased some Torani Peppermint Syrup from 2nd cup for about $11. This syrup is also great for a peppermint mocha! You can also make your own syrup by adding equal amounts of sugar and water in a sauce pan, simmer until all of the sugar dissolves, and then add in a couple of drops of peppermint extract.)
  • 1/4 cup crushed ice
  • 2 white chocolate candy cane Hershey’s kisses (these seem to only be available at Christmas time, so stock up! You can also use a square or two of plain white chocolate if you like.)
  • Red sugar sprinkles for garnish (found in the baking section of the grocery store along with all of the icing and sprinkles. They’re super shiny!)

  • Blend all ingredients in the blender until smooth. Serve in a chilled glass (I used a martini glass 🙂 ), and sprinkle lightly with red sugar sprinkles. If you want to make the beverage have a pinkish tint, include about 1/4 tsp of the red sprinkles in the blender.
  • Optional: hang a mini candy cane for garnish on side of glass
