1 Year Blogoversary! A Whole Year Already… WOW!

Happy “Blogoversary” To My Blog!

I don’t do too many of these types of posts that don’t include a recipe, but this is special to me… 🙂

One year ago today, I started officially documenting my random adventures, good and bad, in the kitchen on this WordPress blog. It doesn’t feel like I’ve been posting here for a year, but I guess that just goes to show how fast time really does pass you by! {I did have a blog for quite some time on another blogging platform… But shut that one down due to some unfriendly “visitors“… 😉 }

Not only am I amazed that I’ve managed to keep this blog going for a year, but I’m also pleasantly shocked about the fact that I’ve had 14,000 views in the past year. I know that many of those are from random Google searches, and obviously not everyone who reads this blog will comment… But it still makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside… 😉 The compliments I’ve received from people also mean a lot to me, and I really appreciate those of you who have even gone so far as to tell other people about this blog!

So if anyone out there is a regular reader, a semi-regular reader, an occasional browser, or even a random person who has just happened to come across my blog… I want to thank you all for reading! Food is one of my biggest passions, and there’s nothing better than being able to share that with other people.

In the next couple of years, I may not be writing as much as I’d like because as of September, I’ll be in school full-time {while working part-time}… But I’ll still be here at least a few times each month! The next two months will be especially hectic, because the husband {and puppy} and I will be moving into our first {brand new} house in October. Exciting and busy times are all around, but no matter what, I will always make time to cook something up in the kitchen AND post about it! 😉

This past year, I feel like I’ve changed a lot. One of the biggest ways, probably in the past few years rather than just this past one, has been how I feel about my health and wellness. I had a bad relationship with food for a long time. There were times when I was overweight, and times when I was so underweight that I became terribly ill… However, I feel as though I’ve started to come out on top of it all partially because of this blog. I don’t want to give too much credit for my well-being to something on the internet, because it’s not just that… However, being able to have an outlet for my exploration of food has allowed me to get to know food a little better. Experimenting with food has taught me about flavours, textures, and the wonderful feeling your body gets when you fill it with good quality things instead of rubbish {or nothing at all}. Having conversations with other people who are as passionate about food as I am has also played a huge role in my overcoming issues with food. Bouncing recipes, advice and ideas off of other people, and gaining valuable nuggets of knowledge has been something I have really enjoyed.

Where I’m going with all of this is that this past year has been more than just “a year of a blog”. It’s been an exploration of new foods, new ideas, and new people. It’s been a year of connections, a year of trying things I never thought I would have tried, a year of going to interesting places, and a year of change. LOTS of change… And I couldn’t be happier with everything. 🙂

Well, that’s all for now! I’ve got to package up the soup I’ve made for tomorrow’s lunch/dinner, and head off to sleep! I’ll be back soon with some tasty recipes! 🙂

  1. As someone with only three months of food blogging under her belt, it’s great to read about the transformative year you have had. Thanks for the great post.

    • Thanks for stopping by! 🙂 And best of luck with the food blog! Not sure if you’ve heard about The Daring Kitchen, but you should check it out! It’s a great place to help with trying new things because of the monthly challenges… 🙂

  2. Happy Blogoversary to YOU! Congratulations! You have inspired me to have a better relationship with food as well. I have enjoyed your recipes and your pictures but most of all I like reading your recipes and seeing what you substitute for those less-than-nourishing ingredients. (Kind of like the applesauce and mashed bananas advice you gave me!) It’s come in handy since my family has had to make some dietary changes for my dad’s sake.

    I had to laugh when you told the story about the key limes when you licked one and was surprised it tasted just like a lime. No, I didn’t laugh to make fun but I had to laugh because that was exactly what I would have done and I also would have had the same reaction.

    Thank you for all you do. 🙂

    • Thanks Dionne 🙂
      I wish I could ALWAYS substitute in the healthy ingredients, hahahaha… But sometimes butter still finds it’s way into my baking… *sigh* But I’m glad you’ve found some of the ones I’ve used to be helpful. 🙂 I’ll be exploring more in the months to come hopefully!
      Oh those key limes… I will never buy those again!!!! I was so let down hahaha, and they’re so little that it’s hard to get any juice out of them! The novelty of their size is gone, so it’s normal sized limes from now on!
      You’re more than welcome, thank YOU for reading! 🙂 And thanks for writing in your blog too, I enjoy reading it 🙂
